So the majority of Tankers seem to have their panties in a bunch about the new skill system being loaded with SP sinks while ignoring what it is they'll actually "need" to fit a proper vehicle in 1.7, fixating on the total cost of the entirety of one branch of a tree while ignoring the essentials. Here's the news flash from the infantry guys who spec into multiple weapons, you don't need the weapon / turret fluff for that weapon / turret to be effective at what it does and you don't need to proto out every weapon that you'll potentially use. This is compounded by the fact that not a single Turret Proficiency skill or Turret Operation skill actually adds anything to your damage potential. At best the most useful non-operation turret skill is Fitting Proficiency and, I don't know about you guys, but using that nifty Vehicle Skill Planner i've found it quite easy to set those skills to 0 and still fit some great vehicles with at least ADV Turrets.
But let's talk numbers and core skills, here's what I believe it'll take to grab all the core skills required to use Complex Shield and Armor Mods with Fitting Optimization, vehicle command, and ADV level in all turrets.
Core Skills :
1x Vehicle Upgrades : 5 ~ 310,920SP (I'll be nice and give you turret upgrades) 2x Armor Upgrades : 5 ~ 621,840 5x Armor Fitting Proficiency ~ 1,554,600 2x Shield Upgrades 5 ~ 621,840 5x Shield Fitting Proficiency 5 ~ 1,554,600
2x Vehicle Core Upgrades : 5 ~ 621,840 (Gives you Core Grid Management and Complex PG/CPU Mods) 5x Core Grid Management : 5 ~ 1,554,600 (Reduces Cooldown on Modules)
2x Vehicle Turret Upgrades : 1 ~ 12,440 (lol)
Total : 6,852,680
Command :
1x Vehicle Command : 5 ~ 310,920 4x HAV Operation : 1 ~ 24,880 (Gives you both Gunnlogis and Madrugars)
Total : 335,800
Turrets :
1x Turret Operation 5 ~ 310,920 2x Large Turret Operation 5 ~ 621,840 2x Large Rail : 3 ~ 136,880 2x Large Blaster : 3 ~ 136,880 2x Large Missile : 3 ~ 136,880
2x Small Turret Operation : 5 ~ 621,840 (I'll be generous here too because we all know none of us are fitting these things) 2x Small Rail : 3 ~ 136,880 2x Small Blaster : 3 ~ 136,880 2x Small Missile : 3 ~ 136,880
Total : 2,375,880
Grand Total : 9,564,360
So that's 9.5m to go above and beyond and get all turrets to ADV level (even when we wont use small turrets), both Armor and Shield Complex Mods along with their respective Fitting Optimization (imagine how much you'll save for not being indecisive and choosing Shield or Armor!), and to use the Tanks themselves.
Please stop spreading bullshit.

Not a problem man, I just hope this encourages people to actually do a little bit of research before complaining in one way or another. With the 10m SP you have in vehicles you should be absolutely A-Okay with any route you choose to go down, and like I said you'll end up saving a decent amount of SP if you choose Shield or Armor from the outset instead of speccing into both (unless you really like Tanks)

Missile Turrets*
Large Rails and Large Blasters only need Large Turret Operation 1, it's the Missiles that require the skill be maxed.

And it should be costing you much less than 7m to get a Methana where you want it assuming you're focusing on the armor side of things. With the way the modules and vehicles are set up its more difficult to use CPU intensive (Shields) modules on Gallente vehicles so assuming you're only focusing on the Armor side of things you may only be spending close to half that.
